Query syntax

Qudoc doesn't have an advanced search option. We believe in keeping things simple. However, we do support the usual search operators:

Operator Description Example
AND Finds documents containing both words hot dog

Finds documents containing both hot and dog within the one document. The AND operator is implicit and does not need to be included.
OR Finds documents containing either one of the words, or both together hot OR dog
or
hot | dog

Finds documents containing hot on its own, dog on its own, or both hot and dog.
NOT Excludes a document from the search hot NOT dog
or
hot -dog

Finds documents containing hot, but only where they don't also contain dog. The hyphen (-) can also be used.
"phrase" Allows you to search for an exact phrase (ie as you typed it) if you put the query between quotation marks "hot dog"

Only finds documents where the words hot dog appear adjactently in that exact order, but won't find, for example, dog hot, hot red dog or just dog.
(brackets) Allows you to build complex boolean operations (warm OR hot) (canine OR dog)

Finds documents containing at least one each of warm or hot and dog or canine, for example hot and canine, or warm and dog.
